Having grown up in Little Rock, AR Liz has been involved with art most of her life since her mother was an artist and teacher. She won many awards as a child including the Hallmark Cards Gold Medal of Honor for a silk screen print in high school, and was yearbook artist for award winning yearbooks.
She studied art at Mary Baldwin College, graduated with Honors from the University of Arkansas, and taught 4th grade until she had her daughters. She studied acrylics with Don Fusco of Hallmark, and for the next 15 years put it on hold to show horses with one daughter and be stage mom to the other, but volunteering as art instructor in Kansas City and Santa Rosa, CA. Moving to NJ when the girls were in college, she studied portraits and pastels at the Montclair Museum and NJ Center for the Visual Arts.
Since moving to Hilton Head in l993 she has studied with numerous nationally known artists through the Art League workshops. She has taken workshops and painted in Mexico, France, Tuscany, Wyoming, Colorado, Maine, and Martha's Vineyard.
She exhibits and has won awards with her Apple Pie Painters, Low Country Artists, HH Art League, Sea Pines Gallery, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, HHAL International Juried Show, Hilton Head Gallery Juried show, Art Academy Gallery, the Coastal Discovery Museum Gallery, and the Charles Street Gallery in Beaufort. Her works are in private collections throughout the USA.
She has been a member of the HHAL, American Society of Portrait artists, Southeastern Pastel Society, Society of Bluffton Artists and the SC Watercolor Society.
The beauty of the island in each season is constantly inspiring her and throughout all of her worldy travels she still loves to come home to the island where she can feel the grace of God in any land or seascape.
